How close are you to a deer slam?
Whitetail only for me, but I do find this to be an interesting challenge for an average hunter like me, maybe - just maybe...
Mule deer
Columbia blacktail deer
Sitka blacktail deer
Whitetail deer
Coues' deer
Has anyone come close to N. American Deer Slam?

Maybe that guy Iamyourhuckleberry has. I read in his blog that he was going for a deer in every state I think.

A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

I agree Ed, that is a interesting challenge, and probably a doable goal for the average hunter.
I've taken whitetail and mule deer. Years ago when I lived in Seattle, hunted columbia blacktail a couple times out on the Olympic pennisula. Was a very tough hunt as most of that area is considered a rain forest, high elevations and extremes in weather, and you could use a machette to move around in that country. But was never able to close the deal on one, but have thought about going back and taking another crack at that hunt. Never hunted coues deer or sitka blacktail, but I'm not 6' under just yet.

I am going to stick to a Missouri slam for now......hopefully in 2012.

You do know that a Missouri slam also involves the harvest of a possum, raccoon, and wood chuck in conjunction with that whitetail and/or turkey, right?

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I'm pretty sure Huck has gotten all those he may have one left i'm not sure. I know he is trying to get a hunt in all 50 states or as close to as lawfully possible. The guy is a hunting machine. I had the privelage of hunting with him in Nebraska for whitetail and he is a great guy.
