Cool discovery

Unread postby Mike » Sun Jan 22, 2012 2:32 pm

Was looking back at old buck pics and realized the buck I shot this year was around 2 years ago. What a difference! I remember he came out during T zone and I thought man what crappy genetics...well he is now the new farm record. The moral of the story is let them get 4 to 6 years old and they can be BIG!

First and last pic show the most similarities IMO

No, he looks to be 4.5 based on the 2009 pics but could be 5.5 I suppose. Sending you an email BTW

Cool stuff. Love having history on a buck.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Interesting... Seems to me, most bucks grow into a trophy ( at least what I consider a trophy ) if they live long enough despite having bad racks when in there younger years...

"Bad racks"?

You're killing me!....lol

Just joking, Dan. I know rack size is relative to where you're hunting. I'd LOVE to see more than 1 buck/season like the younger version photo'd above. And, I've been through several seasons and not seen a buck that big.

OP:

That's a great find (the photos). Really cool to have a history with a deer like that. Congrats!

Nice pics. Thanks for sharing.

I'm assuming the coyotes/wolfs got to him before you did?

Yotes and some crows too. I was a bit surprised on that because we found him 20 mins after daylight or so, you can tell by the long shadows its early in the pic.
