Good luck fellas, talked on the phone with him yesterday, he's so discouraged by the lack of buck sign in the northwoods I don't think he even wants to think about those bigwoods bucks right now. Best set of tracks they got onto up there (hoping for a buck) showed to be a doe....real promising up by us

I feel his pain!! I have hunted up in northern Vilas county for over 20 years. Until about 3 years ago buck hunting was awesome up there but the last few years were the toughest I ever experienced. I cut way back on my hunting up there and focused hunting near home where there are actually some decent bucks.

What I consider a good buck some of you pass multiple larger bucks per season and would laugh at my racks.

We have a few up here but not many and shooting a 120 is considered a pretty big accomplishment. Some of my killed bucks will only average around 100-105".

Largest is 133" and verified by more than one source at least 5.5 or 6.5. Did shoot a buck with a shed side already in 2008 or he would have been the largest with the one side scoring 63" or 64". Chased him all year and knew something looked funny with him before I shot......no regrets, would have smoked even if I knew one side was shed before the shot.

Bucks like Magic shot tracking this year is a real special trophy. His was just shy of 150 and if not mistaken his largest from the northwoods.

I decided to try and focus on "better" deer in 2004 and only have 5 shot what I consider nice bucks for my area. So its not like I'm lighting the world on fire or anything. :)

All bucks have been shot bowhunting.....I honestly don't remember my last rile buck kill.

I am actually headed out to a new area tomorrow to scout ......luke warm tip from an old buddy some ok bucks have been spotted in the area.

Good luck with the scouting tomorrow and I still would like to see your bucks. Sounds like you put some great bucks down for your area and that's what the Beast is all about... Getting it done!

Are you hunting tommorow or just scouting?

Good luck either way! We have two more days and I know I for one will go down swingin'! Anything can happen and a last hour buck kill would be awesome!

Hope you find some good stuff.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

It has a small home range. Jason snuck up on it's bed and laid the smack down on him!
