The buck that was

Unread postby FRH » Tue Jan 03, 2012 3:41 pm

After lurking here for the past couple weeks I finally have a story. I'm in the CEOs zone in se Wi so the holiday hunt is going on. Been sick the last couple days but had to go salt this morning I got done early enough to grab the rifle and take a little walk this morning. I crossed our ditch at 7 and seen a couple doe tracks that walked the cattail edge and out to the corn field. I walked for an hour and a half loop back to to ditch and only cut 3 other doe tracks and kicked up 2 fawns half way through. When I got back to the ditch I started following the doe tracks up the ditch to see where they were bedded. I got 40 yds from the boat making noise like a mad man in the crunchy cattails and a really nice 10 pt busted out of the ditch bank 40 yds from me. Problem was he already dropped one side :( he ran straight at me and was literally 5⃣ft from me. I could of knocked the other horn off with the gun:). Let him go to get a bigger. Too bad he didn't have the other side. Hopefully the 11 pt that is roaming around still has both sides and shows up soon.

Cool story thanks for sharing and welcome to the Beast.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
