Holy crap BH, you gained 10lbs in a couple days.

I think the difference between what you two guys find is where your walking. Zaps in KS (guessing thats where your walking) and the woods are not as big, so he is covering more ground effectively. Deer use most of the woods he is walking, where in big woods, not so much. Thats my guess anyway.

Hey Zap what unit and county are you in? I hunt in Unit 12 and did not see any dead deer while there or hear of any that had died of EHD in Wilson, Woodson, or Greenwood counties in SE Kansas. I had seen that EHD hit further west of Wichita and north of Witchita.

He's not so lucky... These are bucks he could of been hunting in the future. Sorry for your loss Zap.
Atleast with the stands there you know where people are hunting and can use that to your advantage with their wind and scent pushing deer to you in the stretegic setup based off them. ;-)

This is true....

There are alot of stands up, mostly hang ons cable locked.

Was kinda suprised to see the two climbers close to one another not locked.

Finding dead bucks Isn't what a person likes to find. Sorry to see that Zap. I too am surprised people leave these spendy climbers up.

Back In 1991 Minnesota opened a 3rd gun season being the DNR wasn't happy with the kill numbers from the 1st 2 seasons. Across the road from the land I hunt Is river bottom. It sounded like WWIII going on over there them 2 days. We had 18 Inches of snow on the ground and deer were grouping up. The next spring when the Ice was starting to unthaw In the river we floated the river for the very reason to see how many dead deer we would find In that area. We found 17 dead deer In that section along the river. 2 nice bucks In that 130 Inch range. Most of the dead deer were In the river so they still had all of their remains yet. Slug holes In everyone we found. Most of the deer though were fawns. I'm guessing they didn't realize they were fawns when they shot at them but when they found them they said the heck with dragging a little fawn out. P.O.S. people!! Eat what you shoot.

That first one is a treewalker - that is crazy to leave that nice of a treestand in a public. Wish I was that lucky I wouldn't have to had to send $300 on mine
It funny that the DNR is considering leaving stands in Public. No way would I leave my Alpha and stix in public - think about byt the time you are done sliencing these things you have about a $600 setup. I guess I work to hard to pee way money like that with the chance someone to take it.
