Saltwater marsh vs. freshwater marsh?

Unread postby Milk Weed Seed » Thu Dec 22, 2011 5:12 am

Are there different tactics for hunting saltwater marshes as opposed to hunting freshwater marshes? I would think tide would be one difference that should be considered?

Years ago I used glass deer from up top of a mountain, down in a saltwater marsh on a non huntable state park. Because they weren't hunted, there were some huge bucks there. I had permission on private land on the back side of the mountian in the woods and shot some decent bucks there, but lost permission. I think I can get access to some neighboring private property along the marsh now.

I am a LONG ways from any saltwater marshes. Sounds pretty cool though and I would like to hunt one someday! :)

I hunt salt marshes when chasing the MD sika deer. Big water and lots of it! Tides do matter... its almost impossible to know what your area will look like on a given morinng or evening... could be high tide, flood tide, no tide, wind blew water in... wind blew water out... ice, who knows. I always have to wear hip boots when hunting the salt marshes of MDs lower eastern shore.
You can't kill em on the couch
