I would say not usually but I did find 3 fresh rubs this weekend. Kind of funny you posted this, my buddie shot a doe muzzy season so for fun I threw the carcass behind my house and put a cam over it. Of course the cam cam back with zero pics :x and might be garbage material but there were 3 fresh rubs right next to the doe carcass. Kind of an odd deal but still evidence of late season rubs.

I have found quite a few late season rubs over the years proven by wood shavings on top of fresh snow. Surprised I never found a shed antler at the base of one of these trees.

As the rut winds down the rubbing also winds down. A lot of the rubs made in the later stages of the season are made by bucks tending does.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

The one big reason why I believe you see late season rubs this time of year Is because an Intruder buck (one that hasn't been around before) shows up. Someone gets pissed and starts rubbing.

bucks do rub late into the season and until they shed, i find this every year while looking for sheds i will see fresh rubs as eveidence of shavings on the snow. matter of fact i found a shed from last year in the notch of a tree on oct. 24th this year. from a big buck i had a mere 17 yards from me 2 hours prior. when he turned and went back to where he was coming from after he caught my thermal(i believe). i realized i kept seing all the deer head towards this point so i went up ther quickly and found his antler from last year where he had been rubbing right in bedding area.
