Ok, imagine a buck got clonked on the top of his head in early October and did not wake up until the first does went into estrus. The hit to his head also caused him to forgot where all the doe bedding areas were located.
By his very nature, how does this buck go about finding a hot doe or two or three or.....? How does he utilize his eyes, nose, terrain, wind, thermals to find the big prize?
The tale of the buck that woke up in the middle of the rut..

He cruises downwind of woodlots, thick areas, swamps, field edges and so-on. It wouldn't take him long to scent check these areas and find does in heat.
