Buck I shot is Still Alive!!

Unread postby PredatorTC » Mon Nov 14, 2011 4:20 pm

I went out shinning tonight and lit up a field and saw a buck limping away. I saw only a side view of the rack and immediately had a flashback. It was the buck I shot! When he turned his head I once again almost crappped. He was supper narrow. A young deer, pry 2.5. I never would have taken the shot if I had taken a closer look at the rack but anyways. Im very surprised to see this guy livin on one lung. I could tell he was hurting bad bc he did not want to walk anywhere too far. Still interesting to see he made it.

Man that has got to hurt! Better get out there and put him out of his misery before he dies from infection. Good luck. :violence-snipersmiley:

X2
I think my focus the rest of the season would be nothing but putting that deer out of his misery. Hopefully he gets put down this weekend gun hunting.

A few years back hunting Northern Kettle Moraine late season I had a doe hobble past me with one front leg blown off. I cared about nothing but trying to kill that doe the rest of late season. Saw her a few times but never got a good shot. She seemed to be really struggling and I really felt bad for her. Wish I could have taken her out. :(

2 years ago i had a buck walk out right in front of me that had been shot or hit by a car. his hind end didnt work to good and he didnt move to fast, as he stood right in front of me for about 2 minutes perfectly broadside like he was saying shoot me. i didnt have a buck tag so i couldnt help him out, still bothers me that i had to watch him gimp away in pain.

I would agree with you guys. My focus would getting him down. I haven't seen anything like you guys have mentioned. I did see a mature matriarch doe a couple of years ago, with a severe case of CWD, but I couldn't get a shot at her either. Go get him dude and put him down.

He would be very hard to hunt in the morning so tommorow night I should be able to set up on him. If not I think I can jump him with the gun and take him. I know where he is beding

Good luck with him! I too have saw the buck I hit a week ago last Friday. I've saw him twice now. Had him at 30 yards this morning 2 different times. I could easily see my wound. Spine for sure like I figured.

I shot a buck 2 years ago that I thought was really wide inside spread was close to 22"!!! So I thought.... When I got to him it turned out the skull was broken under the antler base, my arrow was the pain killer he needed for that head ake ;) I assume he got hit by a car searching. My point is..... once you put him down, it'll take the monkey off your back. Eventhough that Buck wasn't the giant he appeared to be, I was happy to end his suffering.
