What are everybodys thoughts on hunting on a full moon ? I'm still going to go hunting, but I thought most people say they don't see as much movement on a full moon ?
Thoughts ?

I might sleep in (a little anyway) and get in the stand a little after shooting light. Then hunt all day, action should pick up about 9:00 where I am at. Moon is underfoot close to noon, could be a good thing.

The temps have really dropped here we have some snow on the ground just a dusting and more on the way. Yesterday all the young bucks were running nuts mouths hanging open grunting and what not. I will be out Thursday regardless of the moon and I expect to see some bigger deer moving.

IMO - You can't shoot a deer if you're not in the stand. I'll be out there for part of the morning, work got me tied up. Wish I could sit all day.

"They" who ever they are, say " Full moon, hunt @ noon". I would agree with others, that at this time of the year, you must be in the woods every chance you get, regardless of the moon.

Re: Full Moon, thursday the 10th
As of today my vacation starts tomorrow instead of Tuesday the 15th. After seeing the cold front coming in and a pressure drop starting around 9:00 on Thursday morning I decided to take the extra 3 days. We have a southeast wind predicted and now that I have a more portable setup I am going be at the east of a large bedding area with a swamp and transition area. There weren't any trees I could get my climber into there and I didn't want to disturb the area putting up a ladder stand.
This area hasn't been hunted in years and on opening morning of gun season (15th) this should be a hot spot for me......here's hoping anyway..

Generally speaking, I seem to think deer move later in the morning during times of a full moon. Mid day hunts seem better also. But this time of year any daylight is a good time to be in the woods.

Re: Full Moon, thursday the 10th
I was thinking about the moon's effect on deer activity recently, and I have a question for everyone.
Some guys say that a rising moon in the afternoon predicts an increase in the afternoon deer activity. Those same guys say that a setting moon in the morning predicts an increase in the morning deer activity.
On the other hand, I see that the moon guide predicts earlier morning / evening activity when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot.
Don't these contradict each other? What does everyone think abou this?
