Deer Cart and sleds
Any recommendations on a deer cart? I broke my Ameristep Non-typical on Friday hauling out my buck, broke the hub/wheel. Plastic junk. I may end up getting a replacement wheel. I need a tank for my public land hunting. Also, what do you northern guys haul your deer in when it snows. I was checking out the deadsled on line.

I use an old blue snow sled left over from when the kids were young. I noticed Dan has the same sled in orange. Takes a lot of the work out of dragging.

Re: Deer Cart and sleds
I have a cart made by big game treestands, you wont ever break it, unless you hauled a steer on it, maybe not even then. It is rated to 500 lbs and will probably haul even more than that. It is not super heavy so I lift it up onto my cargo roof rack on my suv and strap it down and lock it and when I need it its there. It has a nice set of handles for pushing or pulling depending on the terrain, load etc. I also use mine for hauling firewood sometimes. If you are near Madison Wi, my local sporting goods store has it on sale for 75 or 80 bucks right now.

Re: Deer Cart and sleds
DeadSled looks pretty nice. http://deadsled.com/
I have a similar one from Cabela's.
As far as the plastic wheels breaking on the carts that is pretty common. I would replace with a wire spoke wheel kit. I have a Yukon Tracks cart and luckily mine have not broken yet but I am sure they will.
Another thing I find works good where there is alot of water is a medium Otter sled. It's nice and deep and doesn't keep tipping over on uneven ground.
I have a pretty good variety as you can see and which one I use will depend on the situation. My cart rarely gets used because it just isn't practical unless you are on flat even ground like logging roads.

Good point, the bigger the buck the more tipping goes on.

Re: Deer Cart and sleds
I have a cart, dont recall name brand/model. However it looks like many other carts out there. The thing I dont like about it that was also mentioned is tipping. The center of gravity is high and it can get away from you if your using it by yourself. "IF" I ever bought another cart, it would be one with slanted/angled wheels. I would think that would help dramatically with the tipping issue. Ive only used a sled in the snow and it was super easy. Might have to try one with out snow.

That is from when I had the roofing buisness and we worked way up there...
I would leave it up top in case someone was injured or became sick.

Pretty sure mine was $8.00 marked down from $12.00 at least 15 years ago. Hey, both had an 8 in the price.
