I'm with Casper I hope that buck you found dead was not the same one you were after. I was more worried about checking the site last night than any other time because I was anxiously awaiting your report. It seemed like a sure thing, this sucks, I wasn't even hunting this buck and it bummed me out. I'm sorry this happened man!

Had a nice talk with the Warden this morning. Sounds like there is more of this going on than just this deer. He said pretty much what I expected. Not much that he can do about it without a suspect on a week old carcass. Bad deal, man does that make me mad.

I hope it wasn't the buck you had been watching.
My heart sank when I read/saw those pics.

I know it's tough to get an idea of size from the pics of those sheds with nothing to compare too....but add 2 or 3 years of growth to that deer...............

Re: Swamp donkey lives on!!!!
Richland County, WI area for those of you from near there.........Keep your eyes out for a mount with that charecter. From what I saw this year he is pretty similar overall, heavier taller and wider obviously. Pretty gnarly. Obviously just seeing it wouldn't prove anything, but the warden sure would like a suspect to watch! Sounds like it is not the only one in the area, so keep your eyes peeled and ears to the ground

Re: Swamp donkey lives on!!!!
As much as I would like to hold out hope it was a different buck, I don't. I was dialed in on this buck. The whole time that he disappeared last year when I was hunting him, there was never a hint of another deer in this area of the creek bottoms/swamp. The sign I saw when I was there was old enough to coincide with the age of the carcass with nothing newer. The one picture of the carcass from across the creek was taken from a spot where I could have spit into his primary bed. Hoof size matched his pretty good, althought he didn't have any unique charecteristics on his hoofs that I ever saw.

Makes we wants puke. Deer like that deserves better. Worst thing is there's a lotta guys poaching that you might never suspect. My best friend from grade school has a huge buck on his wall. I figured man this guy turned into a better hunter than me. I was kinda jealous. Even bragged to some other friends about him getting onto these big bucks. One night we went out for a couple cold ones. And he tells me the big buck actually ran in front of his suburban so he chased it down through a field, ran it over and then shot it a couple times. A real true sportsman! I waited a couple months and turned his a** in. But of course nothing ever happened to him.
