Close But No Cigar

Unread postby AC Rider » Tue Nov 01, 2011 2:11 pm

Friday afternoon I hunted a new spot in an old area that I often see bucks using. This new spot is a better funnel however and is surrounded by cattails, high grass and willows. I ended up setting up in an oak tree on the back side of this bedding area. You can see the group of oaks in the far background on the right side.

Right before dark I heard a deer coming through the tall grass from the bedding area right too me. It was a big 9 with a huge body. The problem was he was moving in right behind me and I didn't have a shot through the oak limbs. Long story short - he ended up busting me as I fevorishly tried getting on him while he stood broadside at 15 yards. I'm still reeling from this missed golden oportunity. I was able to get a quick video of him and later snapped a couple pics from my big screen. Bad quality but you can make him out...
