Dan I have never hunted a bait site, all my bears have been taken while stalking.... I am curious, about how much bait (in raw pounds) would you say you haul out to each spot in the course of a year? I am thinking is probably a TON of work (pun intended) and that most, like me, really can't fathom how much effort goes into these hunts? I am hunting North of the border next year but I am paying someone else to do all that work since I live pretty decent ways form good bear country - just curious.

It is a lot of bait, Wisconsin has limits, and allows baiting all summer which means my baits there get devoured in one day and I can only get there on the weekends, and volume is much more cause of the long season... I much prefer Minnesota's system. Only about 2 weeks of baiting prior to hunting and no limit on amount. 9 BAITS in MN was a full trailer and 1/2 the bed of a truck just for bait each week, and even more when we go up to actually hunt. The ride there is 9 hours from my house and then we need to pack the bait back into the woods in very remote areas not near each other. The old trails often have trees fall across them and we need to cut our way in and out... Lots of work, but to me that's what makes it fun... Earning your success.

We never did get a weight on it. I figure it was about 400. Jay measured the skull, but I can't remember what he came up with...
