My daughter’s northern Wisconsin BWB
My daughter went for her first hunt ever yesterday 10-20 in northern Wisconsin big woods. And shot her first deer.
We scouted out an area last Monday night after school. We jumped four does and ended up finding a saddle that connected two oak areas and swamps on the bottoms. We hung a cell cam up on the one trail trying to cover the whole saddle. That first night we had a couple of bucks and does going thru, including the buck she shot. The one she wanted to shot. Fast forward to Thursday and I let her skip school. We ended up having to get the blind down from behind our house and setting it up in our yard for her to be able to practice with the crossbow in the blind. Probably was a good thing that we did that cause the scope was loose and we lost an arrow target shooting. We get it dialed back in and get ready to go out. We ended getting out there around 2:30 and and set the blind up on the other side of the saddle hoping our thermals would pull down the way we came in in the afternoon but anything that came up thru the other way would feel that they had the wind. Well it worked out. For her we seen four deer. She tried to shoot a doe first but was not able to get a clear shot. She was bummed and wanted to leave I told her we have about 25 minutes left of light. About 10 minutes later we seen two other deer but they were off about 75 yards not sure what they were but looked like a doe and fawn, then five minutes later we heard the crunchy crunch that we all know that it’s a deer coming. It comes up over the hill and walks quartering to us at about 30 yards. It sees us in the blind and I told he to shoot.
While she did and drilled it good. I seen the arrow hit right where it needed to. We watched it go back down the hill and could hear its death kicks. It went about 75 yards.

Congratulations young lady! The acorn doesn't roll far from the tree, as they say. Always listen to your father!
