That’s up to the hunter. Some guys think it’s too pricey to go after a whitetail when they could be chasing elk for cheaper. Some guys love chasing whitetail more than anything.

Congrats on a bruiser!!!

From your write up it seems like you definitely where fluid on your locations to hunt. Was that your mentality going into the hunt? Not being nailed down to a specific chunck of ground,,, or did that just happen??

Thanks man!

I think being fluid and flexible on locations and properties is essential to success on public. I think that’s one big thing I learned from Dan and the beast. You gotta know when to pivot and when to take your shot.

I remember u posting mental goals b4 u even left for the trip. If you are remotely anything like me that stuff gets tossed out the window as soon as u arrive at your destination. Curious what your criteria to shoot was on such a hunt. Did it change as days went by? Fine buck regardless and well done. Don’t know for certain cause I’ve never hunted Iowa. But believe I might have had unrealistic expectations. Easy to get sugar plum fairy’s dancing in the head while in the land of milk an honey lol

Congrats Tim! Heck of a buck and story. The shot was impressive too. I can only imagine what the adrenaline was like while you were watching him come closer and closer. Great job, bud!

Congratulations!

There has been a few times when I have had other hunters walk in on my set ups. When this happens I have a hard time keeping my head in the game. I often lose focus and start to convince myself that my spot is burned. Its pretty impressive to me that you brushed that off and were able to come out successful!
