Olivia's "meh" buck

Unread postby muddy » Thu Oct 21, 2021 3:07 pm

My daughter will be 13 on Sunday, so honestly just glad she wanted to hunt at all this fall. This farm REALLY went into Oct lull and havent been seeing ANYTHING both from the blinds or on stand until a few days ago. I suddenly got 4 new bucks on cam and made a plan to get her out tonight and tomorrow with this front coming thru.

We sat a blind that is in a Hawthorne hedge between 2 chunks of timber and that has a set aside clover field for livestock. The livestock rotation is this weekend so time was running short. She passed 3 nice mature does and right at dark this buck came thru at 30 yards. That was it, she busted his pump house and he bulldozed 40 yards and died in the open field. Since I'm still toast from my 100K I was super excited to drive right to him. She was very excited but once we got him loaded she went back to the withdrawn teenager to be... "meh"

I'll still take it as a good night and a win. Hotel Frigidaire is getting full again.

Nice deer!
Don't worry, the "meh" years pass pretty quickly.

I pray you're right, some days we're just beside ourselves dealing with attitude. Granted she also has a twin sister to out perform.
