My 2021 October Lull Buck
I figured i’d post my Oct Lull Buck seeing as you’re not supposed to be able to kill Bucks this time of year. Total waste of time until around Halloween right
That being said, what are all you successful beasts doing this time of year after you killed your buck?
Me, i love bowhunting so much there is no way i’m able to sit home watching football!
So my plan, as in years past, is to hunt my buck bed spots (and new spots i haven’t got around to hunting yet) in an effort to fill a few doe tags without worry about mucking up the bucks. I’ll try to film the Bucks i see, kill a couple does, but ultimately gain real time in season intel on my suspected buck bedding spots. Essentially learn what they’re doing and how they’re responding to pressure in late Oct, through Nov and late season without truly worrying about pushing them out being my Buck tag is filled. And hopefully get some sweet swamp buck pics/videos in the process of deer i’ll be pursuing next year.
Best of luck to all you guys still hounding those Bucks. Should be getting hot in the next 2 weeks. I killed this buck after he got done destroying some trees on his way out of the cattails. Really put on a heck of a show for me.
First pic is my 72 yo Dad and my 8 yo boy. They always come along to “help” recover deer but mostly they just talk and give suggestions to me. So great to be able to have three generations of us out there in the late night swamps though! I cherish the memories we’ve all been able to make together centered around deer hunting!

Awesome! Congrats!
Just head out there with the goal of learning. That’s what I’d be doing the rest of the year. That or heading out of state!

Way to go szDonk!!
For sure a predicament to be tagless for the rut.
But you can’t be passing bucks like that!
Happy scouting!
