Double Saddle Kill

Unread postby Luke Carpenter » Mon Oct 04, 2021 6:41 am

Yesterday morning I setup before light on some public land that I've become more familiar with over the past few years. I was sitting between a thick and well used bedding area in some pines, hunting along a picture perfect transition from bedding to food (Fresh apple trees). A couple small bucks came through right away and then the first doe around 8 o'clock. She gave me a perfect 20 yard shot and quickly fell within sight. Around 10 o'clock I had more does come in and decided to take one at 30 yards. The shot hit where I'd aimed and she fell within sight as well! They both were down within 30 yards of each other too! First deer I've ever got out of a saddle and a super fun start to my season! Goodluck to the rest of you!

To take any deer with a bow is a heck of an accomplishment (and a blessing), to take a double isnt something one does regularly so it's a special moment to treasure. Congrats on two fine animals!
