Ohio public buck

On 11-12 I missed what would prob be my best scoring buck. I usually don’t take shots over 25 but he had checked some yearling does and was headed out a flat across the ravine from me and out of my life forever if I didn’t try. I had ranged some that morning after day break and thought him to be around low 30s. Drew, he stopped on his own and I settled the pin and shot. Low and he just went back to cruising and was gone. After the fact he was 43. I just shook my head and thought “yeah that’s why I don’t shoot past 25 at deer”
Saw 4 bucks that morning.

On 11-13 I didn’t see a deer in the same area on the morning sit so I moved midday to a different section that I had hunted twice earlier in the week. Setup on the down wind side of an awesome transition of clear cut, hardwoods and pines where I’d seen bucks cruising before. At about 4:10 I look up and see this guy headed my way but thought nah to small. As he gets to about 25 i don’t know why but with the miss still heavy on my mind I decided if I could get my bow and get drawn I’d shoot. Stopped him at 15 in some brush, picked a good hole and let it fly. He’s far from a big buck but my second public land buck of the year (one in WV) and I’ve hunted hard this year. My cousin came and helped get him out.
