Michigan Dinosaur Mainframe 6
Well November has treated me well on this farm. I was getting pictures here and there of an old boy mainframe sixer with a big split brow. He’s by no means the largest antlered buck I’ve shot but as soon as he started showing up I told myself he is mature and If I got a crack at him it was his time to exit the gene pool. I got a couple pretty nice bucks on this farm I’d like to harvest as well (thanks Michigan for two tags ) Nov 1 I got out of work a touch late and had plans to hang and hunt some key spots over the weekend so I climbed up into an observation stand just to see if I could get any intel for the next morning. It’s a well placed stand that you can see half the farm from and it’s about 100 yards from known doe bedding area. Pretty low impact as far as I’m not anywhere close to my “honey holes” out there. Climbed up and attached to the tree at 5:02. While knocking my arrow and attaching my release a doe was worked her way by. She went pretty alert while looking behind her and after a few seconds bounded off. Assuming it was just a squeaker buck annoying her a bit went for my card reader and cards I pulled in the way out. As I’m inserting the card that six point is on a steady walk on the exact trail she was on. Catching me way off guard I’m stuffing my pockets with my cards and phone and reach for my bow. He was right in my lane to the edge of the field when I got it back, so I let rip. He bounded off and worked his way around me and then got on the trail that came right back to me. He ended up dying 25 yards from my stand on the opposite side of the tree I shot him on. Not sure of his exact age but the taxidermist quick look told him no younger than 4.5 lol.
