Parking lot buck
I scouted a piece of public last year that looked pretty poor from aerial maps but I had to see for myself. When I scouted it there was a collar of thick brush and briars that surrounded the first couple hundred yards of the property so fisherman and hunters have to use the same path that leads them further into the property away from the front. I had to crawl through the only opening I could find and was immediately into sign. As I walked into a ravine and up the other side it opened up into cedars, grass, and poplars. The buck sign picked up with around 50+ rubs and 20+ scrapes. The rub lines continued into buck bedding on two small points. The buck beds allowed bucks observe anyone coming down the hunter/fisherman trail and thick cover behind along with S wind protected their back. With little to no useable trees a ground attack was only option. Yesterday 10/18 there was high south wind that would cover up all the noise I'd make going in and would blow my scent away from bedding. I snuck in around 4 p.m. As i got into the cedars/grass I started finding numerous doe beds. I pushed in as far as I thought I could without busting does and brushed myself in between two cedars. At 5:30 does popped up out of beds at 45 yds! They immediately ran into a private land behind me to feed on beans. At 6:15 I got a whiff of a buck and was on alert. At 6:20 a rack came bobbing over the top of the grass from the direction of buck bedding. He stopped to work a rub 35 yds away. I slowly stood up and put my crosshairs (IA early muzzleloader) on him and shot. He ran off and piled up 50 yds away. 200 yards from parking. Less as as the crow flies. Feels good when a plan works.

Congrats on a big necked brute
You forgot to say that this property was your second option....but maybe should have been your first option.
