Oct 4th Buck on Oaks

Unread postby Mario » Mon Oct 07, 2019 1:46 am

Got this guy sneaking in for a snack at 4:30 PM on Friday 10/04/2019...

He froze up at 22 yards behind some samplings but gave me enough of a window, 2 ft, to take a shot.

He piled up 25 yards from me after getting his rack tangled in a vine :o

Big thanks to Rick and Rob for all the help dragging. And thanks again to Rick for helping me cape him out!

Yeah just above the brisket, I considered not taking the shot. I knew I would be able to penetrate just fine with my bow, just concerned about the pass through. The arrows pass completely through the brisket, puctured his heart, and terminated on the inside of his rib cage. The entrance would was low enough, so he was spray pretty good after hitting his heart. Then with a little luck from the vine he happened to run into, he didn't make it more than 25 yards

Nice one Mario! Was this a first time sit or back at the same island you had the run in with the bucks that got your wind earlier this year?

It was close to that area, yes. Its quite possible this was one of those bucks, I can't be 100% sure because the buck in the video got underneath me so quickly I did not get a really good look at him.

I walk through this areas before prior to the 5 days of rain we had but did not hunt it, so I think having all the rain over an extended period of time helped reset the location
