Didn’t you kill a buck last year in a similar situation? I need to be scouting with a bow in hand more it sounds like!

Unless injury ridden, I bet less than 5% of bucks here will shed before January 1. Majority is between February and April. Earliest I’ve seen is the last couple days in December. It was odd because his tarsals were still very rutty. Lots of breeding opportunities late in the season there.

Yes I was still hunting that heavy front NYE last season and shot a nice 7. I still don’t know why this buck stared at me for about a minute within 20, dropped his head and closed in another 2-3 steps. I had my stand on my back and zero cover. He wasn’t concerned until I drew back. Little late then
