Another Ontario Swamp buck down.

Unread postby Bubbles » Sun Oct 21, 2018 12:01 pm

Hey folks, I'm not on quite as much as I used to be, but I'm still getting after it beast style and trying to knock em down. Just wanted to come back on and say how much help this forum has been to me in my early deer hunting life. I am very much an adult-onset hunter and at 34yrs old managed to take my first buck ever last Nov with a bow I made myself (making my own bows was the reason I got into hunting). Now, this year, I managed to take my 2nd buck, and I'm absolutely certain there is no way I would have taken either of these animals without the information available on the beast. So once again, thank you for your generous sharing of knowledge and tactics that has filled the role of hunting mentor to those of us who have none.

I took this guy on Tuesday, Oct 16 at 8am. It was a marshy clearing fairly deep in a cedar swamp, and it has taken me 3 years to pin down how to hunt it, but I've seen bucks every time I've sat it. I have to take a long route around where the deer are feeding through some pretty nasty terrain and almost got sucked into some floating bog, but it worked out this time! He came in at 8am grunting and following a doe. 23yard perfect double lung and he ran 50yards before piling up.

Congrats bubbles

Very cool to get one with your hand made bow. Sounds like a nasty walk into your spot.

That’s a beautiful buck and you got him on traditional equipment. Congratulations. By the way, what part of Ontario are you from?

Congrats on taking one with your own build! Hoping to get there myself one of these days.
