Great buck man! You earned it. Sorry about the meat but hey you got him! From one central pa boy to another i know how awesome of a kill that is.
This past year of scouting and hunting has really got me thinking about rough remote terrain and thick laurel. It's the best variables i can figure to get onto these mature public bucks. I just saw a 152" got wacked last week around my home and it was a similar story to yours.
I can go to ohio and find a few P & Y bucks in normal hill country. But around here my personal experiences and reading stories like yours makes me think the mountains here are our best chance for that consistency.

Thanks! I’ve been trying to figure out these mountain deer for years. This one definitely is sweet.
I have 5 spots in mind that I think will light up during the rut and I’m going to set cams on them this week to see what happens from now until Thanksgiving and use that intel next year if I need to.
As far as the big woods/mountains/laurel in central-PA, I just set one of my cams today on a scrape I found this past spring while I was shed hunting. It was a big scrape in the middle of the big woods and I have a feeling that bucks in those settings use scrapes to locate does a lot more than just cruising mile after mile when the entire mountain is bedding. I wanted to go back and see if it was going to be used this year and then let the cam show what happens over the entire course of the rut. Sure enough when i got there today, it was opened up. Excited to see what the cam shows and how often bucks are using them.

Congrats on dialing in and coming out with a dandy! Question about the Tasco’s: do your cams drain batteries quick and what batteries are you packing them with?

I don’t have enough experience with them to say that they all definitely drain batteries quick but the ones I’ve replaced the batteries in were out 6-8 weeks on a tree.
I’m using Energizer lithium’s.

I bought one this year and it hasn’t lasted more than a month with the normal rechargers I have. Thought they could be getting weak so I loaded it this last time with lithium’s so we will see. If I can’t get a camera to last at least 3 months on good batteries it’s junk IMO
