tagged and bagged
my doe tag is finally filled ive been struggling with seeing bears this season almost every day complicating my earn a buck. today i decided too change up the evening bed hunt style for a little spot and stalk in the river bottoms. i setup off the road in some high ground overlooking a 500 yard long grassy area at first light. after glassing a grid for about 30 minutes i spotted a ear at 200 yards. the wind was blowing into my face so it was game on. i started off crouching and working the edge of some big willows slowly making my approach. after closing into about 130 yards i had too go too a full belly crawl. i picked a small bush out that would give me the shot i wanted. i had a nice breeze working for me so every time the wind picked up i would push the grass down with my bow and creep forward. after about 45 minutes i was in position. problem was all i could see was her head so the wait started. after about a half hour or so the doe finally got up and started feeding around. i waited for a gust of wind too get too my knees and draw. well now i have my bow back but no shot after what felt like forever she finally turned and i sent the arrow on its way. i hear the smack of my broadhead hit its mark. now it gets crazy what i thought was one lone doe turns into 4 and between the tall grass and brush i lose sight of the deer i hit. i wait about half hour or so and slowly make my way too where i shot.at the point where hit her i look up and see a doe standing at about thirty yards o no did i mess up cant be! i look her over real good and cant see any sign of where i hit. i sit tight and let her walk off and start feeding defiantly not my deer. then i glass another doe at 80 yards away just standing there alert. i cant be sure if its my deer so what am i supposed too do well i put a stalk on that deer and get into 40 yards where i can make a shot if needed. i watch her with my glass for a good while and cant see where she would be injured. it let her walk off and back track too where i shot and slowly start the track. i make it about 30 yards and almost trip over my deer. what a roller coaster of a morning! boy am i glad i bought a good pair of binos last season or i might have shot 2 buy mistake. well i dress her out and cut her up and now i can start hunting bucks finally! she was a big old girl and hit the scales at 138 pounds making her my second biggest doe next too one i shot 2 years ago that went 144.
