Snowy day buck

Unread postby JAK » Thu Nov 02, 2017 2:22 pm

So I decided with this South wind I would go hunt a funnel with bedding about 100 yards to the South of the funnel being my first beast season that spot jumped out to me for two reasons the fact that there's a funnel but also bedding so close.. I sat it early season and saw 5 doe so my plan was with a South wind these bucks would Cruze the funnel sent checking for does.. So I head in on the way in I saw probly the hottest sign I've seen all year not so much buck sign but just the trails being heavily used I get all settled into my tree and do my ritual live from the field post ;). And as I'm typing my post I had a little buck come behind me 30 yards and with the South wind he busted me.. So now I started to second guess my setup just hoping if a good one comes through I hope he takes the trail to my east no way to bust me there so at about 4 I hear some deer comeing from the same area it was a smaller buck and the one I ended up shooting chased off the smaller buck and like he read the script took east trail and gave me a 20 yard chipshot watched him run about 70 yards then heard him pile up he's not my biggest buck by far but I tell you what he's my favorite and one I know I will never forget all the miles of beast scouting it's the first time I feel like I actually hunted for a deer instead of just sat.. another plus got to shoot one with snow falling.. Thanks for all you guys do for us news beasts :D. Sorry I don't have pics up with this post hunter_mike is giving me a hand
