Double down
Nothing crazy about this hunt. I'm doing a run and gun hunt. No prescouting but I know the place holds some decent bucks.
Monday morning was my first hunt. I set up blind based off cyber scouting. I was hoping the deer would travel a finger headed into the swamp. I got blown out by a deer when it cross my entry. I didn't feel great about the sign so I bailed when the rain started at 11:30. At that point my buddy and I started scouting. First we scouted the access points to see what areas are getting hit, then we went for a walk. Things looked better in person than on the computer. We debated on where to try next. My buddy wanted to try a spot on the other end of the property than I wanted but I figured we have 6 days that's cool. I picked a small swamp in the middle of the pines close to the rd. I figured any pressure was walking the access trail to the end. Basically walking past the deer. I set up down wind between two swampy points. I was hoping deer would come out and head to the private at across the street. About an hour before dark I catch movement. A doe working towards me. About 50yrds behind her was a good buck. When they got in range I shot the buck and he ran towards me and stopped, so I shot him again and he piled up. At that point the doe was still milling around, and I have a doe tag, and I was already getting bloody, so it ended up a perfect double.
