plan worked out-kinda
i wanted to post this before just didnt have time to figure out how to post pictures.
So it was thurs nov 10th. The season was coming to a close on sat and i was taking my girlfriend hunting friday. that left me just one evening and a sat hunt left. Not seeing many deer on the public areas i normally hunt, i decided to go in blind to a new piece. i picked a power line on the leeward side of a hill and decided to go about 1/3 or so from the top of the ridge and set up. after hanging my stand and climbing in i noticed a doe laying on the power line watching me. upset that she seen me but kind of excited that she was bedded where i thought they would i slowly pulled up my bow and got ready. eventually she decided she didnt like what she seen and slowly made her way into the woods across from me. about a half hour later, around 4:15, i hear a noise on the power line. i look over and there's a buck getting up from his bed about 60 yards away. instantly i could tell he wasnt what i have been waiting 10 years to shoot. i couldnt believe i set up my stand that close to him and pretty much pick his bed from an ariel photo. as he browsing around and im thinking how i havent shot a buck with my bow in so long, i had 1 day left after that night. i used the beast tactics to pick my spot and setup, i figured, shoot him. i have past enough 1.5 and 2.5 yr old bucks to have a tag at end of the year. eventually he made his way to 22 yards broadside. i draw back, put the pin on him and jerk the trigger. i almost shot his balls off, clean miss. he jumps about 5 yards and stands there broadside. instantly i think of dans video where he says about, "if you survive a shoot from the big buck serial killers bow, dont stop running." (sorry if i butchered that dan but you guys know what im talking about, its one of my favorite lines) so i knock another one and drill him double lung. he went 50 yards down hill to the truck. so its no tropghy but ill take it given the circumstances. its the first buck my son has seen dead. hopefully a lot more and a lot older ones ahead of him.

I have a buddy that shot a buck in SD in the old sack. He eventually found him dead. At the bottom of a cliff. We all suspect he just jumped.
