Big Woods Buck

Spent the past 10 days hunting in Ontario and MN. I had cool encounters in Ontario in swamps sitting near runways I found coming from bedding. Got some ideas from Swamp Bedding video and Google Earth. Not much rut movement during the day. Saw a couple nice ones minutes after dark in the headlights. Used things I learned on Beast and used my Lone Wolf quite a bit. That stand is so amazing. It's one of the best things I own. I could have "filled the freezer" 50 times.
Anyway, I had a buck on camera (his tracks, on my cell phone camera, before sweeping them all off the road a couple times) last November and again this October.
The ol' lion got one into him. Congrats to my dad -- a 240 pound brute dressed weight.
I'm still chasing my fix.

Figured you'd like that one, Ed. I swear it's got the biggest skull on a buck I've seen. Its head seems huge.

Wouldn't that be nice? We're not going to have any snow during the MN season according to the weatherman. If my tag is intact into the muzzleloader season, I should have some snow. My dad will spend time in Canada again but I won't be able to. I've got more hunting to do but I'm going to be helping friends and family kill some deer which can seem like a distraction... but it's fun... and we all know if you're in the woods with a weapon around the rut, anything can happen.

Re: Big Woods Buck
When I was in Canada I spent some time on the stand on the phone (first year with data up there) sending scouting images to Lance (DeerSlayer) and talking about strategy... that was fun too. Good network of good hunters.
