Stories like this make me absolutely jacked to get back into the marsh and get after it!

Mario can speak for himself, but we hunt a lot together, and my opinion is that I get busted a lot more hunting low... Yes, sometimes you have too, but if you can, you get high. Even on the small trees. If your not on the edge your not in a killing position. These bucks are just not coming out onto dry land much. The unit I drew next to Marios has a guy, another beast member to be exact, who has been hunting the unit i got since the opener... I have been seeing shooters almost every day, he has seen 1... Only difference is he is hunting out of permanent sets and useing a climber to be mobile... He is just simply to far back.

I was more focused on visibility over the swamp versus my concealment. I wanted to be able to shoot out into the swamp. I had woods behind me which help break-up my silhouette but that is not always the case when hunting these points. Sometimes you are in that one lone tree where you stick out a bit. But in my mind if I am in a spot for a virgin sit, and I have a clear shooting lane in direction I believe the deer will come from, then I potentially have the advantage in the situation. I can think of a few times this year where deer picked me out while walking by. For me the risk is worth the reward to be able to see out in the swamp. I also feel that if I am low in a tree on a point, and a deer is increasing in elevation as it walks out of the swamp they will naturally be looking in an upward direction. I have this happen to me in hill country more often but I think it could apply here too. thanks!

Makes sense to me, I will definitely keep this in mind in my future set ups. I always love to hear the thought process behind these set ups.
