He wasn't doing any chasing or anything like that. I did not notice any does in heat either. I have always liked the last few days in October the first few days in November for killing a good buck, before they get tied up with does. Much more pattern-able than peak rut.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
