Big Marsh/Bigwoods buck
I killed my biggest public land buck on November 1st at 3:25pm. I was hunting in the Central Forest Zone
I slept in that day. I got to my spot around 130pm I think. I sat there for about maybe an hour or so then decided to move closer to suspected bedding. I slowly crept up maybe about 80 yards closer. I picked out a spot next to a small island thicket of brush . I started picking up moss from the ground and was sticking it in the bushes behind me so I could have better back cover. As I was making that blind I heard something behind me on my left side, a twig breaking or somethin. I crouch down grab my bow and put an arrow on my string. I see tines about 19 yards away through the grass and weeds. I draw my bow back then stand up, he looks at me, (I'm wearing my ghillie head net) I didn't shoot right away, this buck miraculously gave me almost 5 seconds to level my sights (getting that bubble in between the lines) I thought to myself, "please don't bolt, don't bolt" then I released the arrow, he ran maybe 70 yards and crashed. I got out my phone and wanted to tell you guys the good news right away but every time I hit the submit button my reception bars would disappear. Aaaah! It didn't take long to find the blood trail, short track job. I was in shock. Couldn't believe it. This buck was entering the bedroom not exiting. I'm guessing he was coming back from a midday cruise. Just look at the rut cruising times, 1:18pm to 3:24pm
Its a moon buck!! lol
As I was quartering the deer up I stabbed myself almost an inch deep a few inches above my right knee. A porcupine that would not leave witnessed the whole thing 15 yards away. That's a first for me. I just got 3 stitches just alittle while ago.
Thank you God, Dan and the Hunting Beast nation. I'm addicted to this site, you guys are the best.

Re: Big Marsh/Bigwoods buck
Congrats man! Awesome big woods buck...AND a ground attack!!
You got lucky with that knife wound. I have heard of a couple cases of guys sticking themselves in the leg, catching the femoral artery and bleeding out in a few minutes. Sounds crazy but it has happened. Glad it was only a couple stitches!
