First public land deer

This was my first public land deer, period. He's a dink and all, but I'm awful proud. I've been trying to pass if an infatuation with killing one one public land, despite having access to private, for 4 years. I hunted public exclusively last year without ever drawing back on one. I saw some decent bucks and counted evert sighting as a success.
I caught this Lil dink slipping through a saddle at 9:45 am with two other bucks, heading up to a bedding spot. He stopped at 10 yds to smell where a big buck had passed 30 mind before daylight. Without thinking about it I zipped a ol zwickey eskimo RIGHT THROUGH the sweat spot. He ran 45 yards and got all punch drunk, it was beautiful lol.
Had a 1.5 mile pack out after I quartered him up and I rigged my lock on into a pack frame. Haha, boy, that was brutal, don't ever try it. But, it was the most memorable hunt I've ever had. I bet I spent a hour out side that afternoon, starring at that whimpy, beautiful, awesome rack; suckling down cold beer and thinking about how great a life the Lord has blessed me with.
Anyways, thought I'd share, good luck to everybody.

Re: First public land deer
Congrats. Your dedicated to pass on a year of private to go all public. But in the end it builds your skills much better.
Way to go.

Alrite, here he is, I hope lol. Sound off if you can see it. He's not the best buck, and he looked bigger when I shot, but, idc, I'd have shot anything. I'm awful proud, being that everyone baits in NC, that was able to prove to myself that I can kill a deer without all that, using my longbow. I KNEW it was in me, as I KNOW it is in me to do WAYYYY greater in the future. This was much needed affirmation.
