Re: Public Marsh Buck
If you remember last Wednesday 10/26 most of WI got hit hard with rain all day. I was wishing that I had off the following day for a full sit but my vacation day started on Friday. I really believe this time of year you get a day with bad weather with hard rain & winds it can make for some good hunting the next day. I went out Thursday afternoon & it didn't disappoint my theory that the bucks would be moving. Shortly after getting in stand I had grunting and buck movement from 3:00 - 3:30. I had two different bucks the size I shot on Friday at 20 yards. At last light the wind switched from NW & now was coming from the south . Well I heard a grunt & was looking behind me when I turned around and had a big boy staring in my direction at 24yds. If I would of been facing that way I would of had a shot, he was big no really it was a great buck. He stood for over a minute and then took two big jumps & stood for another couple of minutes then took off. Friday morning was calling for south wind & I had a perfect spot for my all day sit. I went in just before first light for my sit. I never had done this before weird feeling going in late on purpose. Lots of time I'm in stand and hour or more before shooting time. It didn't take long & I had different year & half old's out on the look. Several different times I could hear grunting but never could see anything. Finally a doe walked past bringing this buck with her. He was grunting on every step & putting a nice show on doing the nose down and bird dog trot. He stopped just over 20 some yards & I drilled him. He fell on the spot. I ended up grabbing another arrow to help the process along. I will post a picture of what the shot did to his shoulder. It looked like a gun shot wound it was crazy. As for the drag out it SUCKED. Two different times I fell forward getting waist high wet, all the rain has every marsh holding more water. I ended up buying a different deer cart this year & well in water & humps it just sank down. It was hard to drag when your feet get stuck in the muck and the water is so high. Once I got it to the Inland then not much issues at all. I really find out how out of shape I am in when dragging out deer.

Re: Public Marsh Buck
I tell you what it works.... It helped me out on dry ground. I might try off season with getting it hooked up with shoulder straps - then it will be cat's meow. Also if you want to try it out you can use it if you help me with the next one For real if you want to try it PM me, I just need it back before gun season.

Great shot! Congrats!
You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.
