A few questions: If it had been cooler temperatures would you have hunted it differently?
How much time do you estimate that you spent walking/scouting this area?
Will you be mounting this one yourself as well?

Temperatures really weren't so much of a factor for me on this hunt. I'd actually rather it have been cooler cause I just thought I was asking this buck to come a long ways in daylight on a warm evening. Wind and the fact it had been so dry lately were more factors on me going in on him.
I have spent probably 3-4 hours scouting this area out in the spring each year. First year probably more cause I really walked out everything around there just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. This past spring I more so went in to see if he was back in the area or if a buck was back in there and found some very good sign in near the beds. One thing I will note here is that 40-50 yards outside of his beds he was not laying down really any sign as far as rubs. I'd found some here and there I know he made but most was the smaller deer using the area. It's just one of those spots that is set up perfect for a buck to live in and stay safe
I do plan on mounting him myself but I've not had time to do much of that this year as I have my rifle from last year I need to work on. Just really been pressed for time like many of us on here are.

Yea that thing is huge. Good chance that will be the biggest public land buck taken by a beast member this year. Good thing you didn't see that wide rack from the start coming at you haha.
Killed as a result of sign you found years ago, that's a great hunt man. I like how you conduct yourself on here as well. Congrats again!!
