What an amazing season in NY
Last spring was my first solid attempt at getting my then 8 yo son afield. We shared a blind and 30 minutes into opening day of turkey we took a stud 3 yo tom with 1" ivory spurs.
This year was nearly the same. Had a killer show with 14 birds that came in, two great toms started to fight and then one started to "dance" (as my now 9 yo stated it) on the hen decoy.

Our second chance to get out I was skeptical though scouting this flock hard I knew others had done the same. No opening day magic to hide behind. After a 35 minute show at 30-40 yards I was finally able to arrow him. Life is good

Still smiling despite being tagless in NY. May head to PA or OH this weekend but that could only icing on this years turkey season...my favorite so far. Hoping you get to enjoy hunts with your kids and we all can bask in the fruits of our labor on future hunts.

Re: What an amazing season in NY
Thanks guys and I am hoping good fortune follows us all into deer season.
Scouting a few new spots this year and nothing screams its "going to be a great year yet" for me, but then again its not close enough to game time to sweat it yet....and can always bask in what has gone right.
Made that amazing turkey leg recipe from wired to hunt and the family enjoyed round one of fresh turkey burgers...life is good!
