Awesome can't wait to hear the story.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: Mn double drop
Background: this hunt was conducted on my brothers 130 acre hunting property. This is a heavily hunted area. We try to keep the deer from feeling much pressure, so they use it as a small sanctuary. We have known about DD for 2 yrs. He only used the north portion of the property. The north 40 also butts against a heavily traveled gravel road. All of or pics and most of his sign was concentrated around the small food plot we planted on the NW side of the property. We never got pics of him on our s food plot. The neighbors on the s side of the property hunt our edge of the s food plot no matter wind direction etc..
This area is very flat, with very few terrain features. We have our best luck hunting transition areas. We also received a lot of rain this fall. 6 to 10 inches of water are still standing in low/swampy areas.
Hunt: I never attempted to bow hunt this buck. I did not want to put too much pressure on the area. We had a w wind opening day of rifle season.
I went in early as I had to walk thru a lot of water/ice to get to my stand overlooking a transition area. 1/2 hr after daylight I heard a deer walking thru the water to the n of me. I noticed it was a lone doe not long after I heard numerous loud grunts to the w of me. DD came into where he
heard the doe walking, with a tail wind. I had to slowly turn around in the ladder stand and face the deer to get a shot at DD. I made the 35 yrd shot wit out getting buck fever he went down on the first shot
Buck: we believe he is 5 1/2 yr old buck. Not sure what he will score. He is currently at the taxi. He is my latest antlered buck. He had a relatively small body. We didn't weigh him, but I doubt he dressed at 190#. We had to get a deer sled to drag him thru all the standing water
Thanks: first to my bro for letting me hunt DD. He had a special state park permit. We had intel on a large typical that used the park as a sancuatary. He never got a chance at the buck. I would also like to thank Dan and all the regular beast members. I have read and learned a lot from this site. My next hunting goal is to shoot a mature buck with my recurve
