Road trip 2
Headed to Iowa for a quick few days. Was pretty pumped because I was going to be able to spend 4 days there which would be my longest trip.
Didn't take long to get into some good action. At first light I saw a doe coming off the ridge and behind her a gorgeous 150" 9 pt. I thought it was a done deal. She came right through a lane. He however went through the lane about 5 yards further. There were some dangling branches covering his vitals (no trimming) . I probably could've slid an arrow in there but decided not to try.
I let them clear off and attempted to call him back even though I knew he wouldn't come in he might come check it out if he breaks off that doe later.
Any way a short while later two does came running in from the ridge top. I'm scanning behind them and see rack crest the hill. He bumps them around a bit and starts heading to a point down the ridge. I grunted to him and he looks but keeps walking. I let him get over the rise and I hit the antlers together. He comes charging in to 40 and continues walking closing the distance to 34. Shot was good, double lung, and watched him fall. Not an Iowa giant but great mass and good character. I was pretty pumped .

Sorry, I hate disclosing if it's public on a forum because I get a million PMs asking where. This happened on the beast a few times and most guys that PMed me I didn't know (lurkers).
I have no issue telling you. It was on public. We hunt two public pieces mostly and one private. The private has one decent ridge but it's not that good. My buddy hit one there but it was non lethal.
