What a great hunt! Congrats on a buck well earned, he is a brute. On pressured public land to boot.

Mind me asking what broadhead you used and what parts of his vitals you hit. I'm thinking it glanced off the bone on his front leg and you got into the heart, maybe the front of the heart? Did you break any bone? Is that the entry or exit hole? Was he quartering one way or the other? Looks like an excellent shot and sounds like he was dead fast. I am not trying to critique it in any way and i am impressed by the results of your shot. I am just interested in trying to aim a little more forward of the shoulder crease than I used to.

I use NAP killzone. They fly great and seem to cut a huge hole. I started using them last year and have been really impressed. When I was researching them they had by far the best reviews online. That was the entry hole in the pic. The deer was slightly quartering toward me although when I shot I thought he was perfect broadside. I actually flinched at the shot. I meant to hit him a little farther back. I'm in the process of cutting him up now and I'll take some pics and post them later of the shot
