I know with the way I wrote it seems like I didn't have a good experience shooting that buck. Truth be told I was really stoked about it. I was very excited that a buck came from where I was expecting and that I made such a good shot on him for how fast it all happened. It just didn't feel the same. Since I had passed so many young bucks on private I wasn't excited about the kill. This years journey getting me to that buck was amazing. I just remember seeing my first mature buck out there. He was a huge 4 point with no brow tines. Weird looking buck but he was atleast 3 years old which was my goal. I shot this buck for my dad and he was so pumped up for me. That made me feel good but after shooting him I only had my restricted tag left so I couldn't go after the big 4. All in all I'm very pleased with the encounters I've had this year. Its been amazing. Who knows maybe Ill tag out on a beast in the late season. Either way I'm thankful. It really wasn't so bad as I want to feel like it was. Thanks for the comments and encouragement

Welcome to the Beast. Congrats on the first buck.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Congrats and welcome!

That's a cool story thanks for sharing that. I could only imagine the amount of frustration u felt when that old guy shot the buck you were after from under you. There are all kinds of tactics talked about on this forum. Most require hard work and doing your homework. Its like he stole your thesis paper and got an a, while you failed got blamed for forgery. My hats off to you for the way u handled it. You're better than most! It won't be long before your results begin to show!
