Fat late season doe
No big buck glory, but man was I needing meat. I did what I do every year. I chase after a few bucks and get leary about hunting does in the same areas where I have a bruiser taking up residence, pass on tons of opportunities and end up scrambling at the end of the season to fill the freezer. It was pretty much went how you would want it to go. Got set up early yesterday afternoon. figured earlier was better b/c they have been moving early especially with this frontal passage. We dodged the big NE blizzard, but it's freakin' cold and windy outside. I set up in a really good travel corridor between the bedding and the winter wheat field. She came cruising in at 4:30 walked right toward me turned broadside with her head behind the tree. Thank god b/c I had my bow in the holder on the Alpha, hood up and face all covered. It gave me time to get situated. Nice 19 yard chip shot and a quick 70 our so yard recovery. It took a while to get her out of the woods and finally made it home by 9pm but man it was nice to get one down. We have until the 31st and and it was really wearing on me. She's a big one too 126lbs. I really had to give her the once over b/c at first I wasn't sure if she was a shed buck in the 2.5 yro range. Giant noggin on her.
