Nice buck.
When that big buck walks towards you this fall, concentrate on your breathing and get your eyes off his antlers.

Shot him on Tuesday November 25th at 1:45pm SE Wisconsin. Really just walked into the woods to check that bed and get a camera before leaving for up north. Monday we had a good heavy snow that stuck to the trees so I was able to approach the bed from a hillside and look down into it. Saw he was there and took the shot while he was still laying down quartering towards me. about 90 yards. If not for the heavy snow creating so much cover he would have been long gone before I laid eyes on him from that direction. Typically when I bow hunt that bed which is the same bed my archery buck from this year was shot I approach from the Northeast where this is a lot of cover but there is no way to see into his bed from that direction until your about 15 yards away.
Here's an ariel pic of the bed and routes.

If the coyotes beat you to the tracking and eats it, to me its theirs. I wouldn't keep it, Its cool keeping it but the meats no good for sure. But Congrats.

So if you put a lethal shot on an animal and back out to make sure you do not push the animal onto property you do not have access to and the coyotes get to him overnight before you follow up on the track at daylight you should not claim it or take pride in it??? Explain this train of thought to me... Wait until you make a poor shot on a trophy animal and take the track to soon and never find it at all, It's a mistake almost all have made at some point in their hunting career and one most will not repeat... This was a deer I hunted for two years and was lucky enough to connect on with the gun and wasn't going to risk losing him entirely to a bad decision to track to soon, I'm proud of this animal :D

And keep your tag too???
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.
