Better lucky than good

Unread postby sojourner » Mon Nov 24, 2014 2:26 pm

i have been migrating to more mobile, and dare I say "beast hunting". I have been sitting preset stands in the AM and scout/hunting with my alpha II and sticks for evening hunt. Been slogging through with knee high boots and hip waders. Making an effort, but still having a "safety net" of preset stands in the AM.

Yesterday I sat the AM in a ladder with the alpha II and sticks for an evening hunt. This bruiser came by in the AM apparently scent checking for doe. The only not so good news is that I did not get a practice session in setting up my sticks and stand.

I'll take good or lucky.

Cool buck! Almost looks like a mulie on the one side.

Thanks! My best to date. Quarters are cooling in my ice chest over ice. Rack and skull at buddies waiting for a European mount.

All I saw was palmation. I shot, not knowing how many points he was. When I recovered him, I was super excited!

Thanks!

He was 130 lbs dressed. Not a big body at all, but big headgear for me. I have shot bucks with lesser headgear and way bigger bodies.

My buddy, who is euro mounting him, will take the teeth to his relative (a wildlife conservation officer) for score and aging. People have guessed him at either 3.5 or 4.5 years. We'll see.
