Congrats. Good story and good buck.

Dont beat yourself up. I have had similar mental discussions. Why am i doing this? I am not proficient enough to bowhunt.

Just wanted to comment on this hunt again, I was actually thinking about your story today at work. You overcame so much on this hunt it is really impressive. Going in blind, in the dark and killing a great buck with the BOW is something most guys would never even attempt. And the tremendous effort to recover him...

Just awesome man. You will smile about this hunt for many years to come.

Outstanding.

Great buck, great hunt, and especially impressive perseverance on the blood trail!! Too many hunters give up too soon on a difficult tracking job. Way to show how its done! Congratulations!!

Palmettot to thanks for the words of affirmation. I have hunted and scouted many miles so I was not letting him walk especially on public grounds. I will always remember him because he is my first mature public land buck. Thanks guys for support and wisdom

Nice buck! Great read!
Unfortunately, tracking wounded deer is something I have spent more time doing than I care to, but it is going to happen. We try our very best to brin a quick humane kill, sometimes it just doesn't happen and we find ourselves at a fork in the road. Way to stick with the tracking. Like many have said before, most would have given up.
The feelings we get from havin to wait over night, the feeling of not finding one that we have hit and can't find is much worse.
For you to pass on opening day of firearm to find him says a lot about you as a person and a hunter.
Props!
