A long search pays off.

Unread postby ozzz » Mon Nov 17, 2014 4:41 am

Thought I would share a few more pics of my buck. Shot him back and knew right away it was a bad hit. I knew he would be dead though and wanted to do the animal justice. Two days later I found him but some others beat me to it.

I am proud I stuck it out though.

Thanks guys. Its definitely not fun searching that long, part of you wants to just keep hunting but I knew he was dead and had to do the right thing.

He only went like 250 yards maybe 300 but dumped off to a side that is a nasty prickley ash thicket. I definitely got some good tracking experience.

Great job Ozzz. That is a dandy buck. It is nice to get closure even if the out come wasn't as scripted.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Congratulations on finding him and sticking with it. I just got done w/ a 3.5 day search for one that I hit on Wed, but officially threw in the towel on searching about an hour ago (yesterday I said I was done looking, but just had to give it another go today). It sucks, and I hope I never go through this again. Congratulations, and I commend you for sticking with it.
