Thanks Hodag... I don't think I'm done tracking, just done shooting. This year I started concentrating on ridges, just finding them on a topo and then scouting them, in a way killing that buck just freed up 3 extra weeks to explore more ridges. I'll probably just keep hiking new ridges and following tracks until the deer quit moving, then strap on the snowshoes and head back into a big chain of truly rugged and unlogged ridges that I just found. I did achieve one major goal this year, I didn't spend any time on stand :D
They say millwrights can fix anything except a broken heart, but I've even got a tool that can do that!
