Dbltmn''s son scores

Unread postby dan » Fri Nov 07, 2014 12:16 pm

My 15 year old son has hunted with me just a few days of the last few gun seasons due to us living apart for many years. Well by the grace of God we have had an opportunity to live together now and have begun hunting like family. Sully shot his first buck, set up in a lone wolf climber on public land in a swamp on a first time hunt near a private bean field on the youth gun weekend. This was an awesome hunt. One we will remember for many years to come.

As if that story wasn't great. This past weekend I hunted the brutal 40 mph winds all day . didn't see a deer. We decided to head way up north to our cabin and spend the weekend there before a 5 day hunt the following week. Sully got his but up at 5:30 Ssaturday morning (not many kids doing that these days). He woke me up,. I was beat from the day before and the three hour drive up late the night before. He asked if he could take his Lone Wolf and bow out and hunt. He went about a half mile into public land, found a trail on the edge of some pines we have never hunted (just bought this cabin this May). He set himself up DW of the trail. An hour later 3 deer came in. He waited until the right time and drew. Whacked the biggest one and dropped her in 30 yds. Watched her fall and he was thrilled. The hit was a "little far back".... OR shall I say forward. He hit her right in the jugular and she bled out as fast as straight through the heart!. No tracking.

This kid has gotten it done twice this year. Both times on public. The doe was special because this is big woods/ NO Agriculture hunting. Miles of forest, not many deer. I am very proud of him in more ways than I can describe. School, manners, and in the field. We will enjoy this venison as much as any.

Good job Sully, you are the man. Congrats on the dandy buck.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

awesome stuff!!!
Happiness is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it, so with that happiness is a choice one can consciously make, although often challenged by what happens to us, it is a choice nonetheless.
