Spotted 2 ten pointers, now what??? Edit: (Buck down!! )
So last night I was chopping corn and when I was just about done with the field two bucks, both ten pointers were standing in the corner of the field with a doe. It was just before dark so legal shooting hours. The closest woods are about a mile away. There are fence lines around all the fields. There is still standing corn to the north. CRP ground to the west. My question is where do you think these bucks are bedding and where would you set up? I thought of packing in and setting up in the corner of the field on the one fence line, where the CRP and standing corn meet. Just curious what everyone thinks. And sorry I would post a topo but don't know how.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Spotted 2 ten pointers, now what???
I would get over there in the middle of the day today and pay attention as to where your wind is blowing not to spook them but walk the transition of the corn and see if you can find big tracks where they are cutting out of it multiple times. If they are, I would sit right in the corn 2 or 3 rows on a stool. If this is a spot where you drive the ATV once in a while, I would take that to look and just drive slow and not stop and see if you can make sense of the tracks and what they are doing. Maybe you can find them cutting out of the CRP?

My guess would be the CRP. I see a lot of bucks around here bedding in CRP but standing corn is a spot they tend to bed too. That transition of standing corn and CRP would be a good spot if yiu can get in there and set up quietly

Well done...
If you want to kill a deer you have to be in the woods.

Awesome.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: Spotted 2 ten pointers, now what???
For those that don't know, I was diagnosed with cancer this last spring and have been going though treatments every two weeks. My hunting time has been cut down a lot because of appointments and treatment. I also have been weak from treatments which a number of guys donated money to get me a new bow with a lighter draw weight. Which I did use tonight to take my buck. So back to the hunt, like i stated early I was chopping corn and spotted 2 bucks last night. I went in tonight with my brother in law. As crazy as it sounds, we sat the same tree in case both bucks came back out tonite, trying to get a double. We had just got set up and were maybe sitting for 20 minutes. We heard the classic sound of a deer coming. It wasn't long and my brother in law saw him and said big buck. He also said that he could not get a shot that it was all me. I grab my bow and drew back, put the pin on his chest and let it fly. The arrow hit its mark and the buck ran off. We could tell he was hit hard. We gave him a little time and took up track. He wasn't far!!! I was so pumped with this buck not only because of everything I have been though with my health but, this was my second ever beast style hunt. We both pack our lone wolf's in and set up, and took this buck. I would like to thank everyone for advice and tips that I have learned since joining the website. Would also like to thank Predator TC, (Joe), for everything you did from setting up my bow to helping me stealth strip my stand and sticks. Thank You!
